Lovely man...

Here he is! The lovely man. He is one of my favourite subjects for portraits as well as being a favourite person. Sadly, we didn't get as much time together as usual this weekend but it was lovely nonetheless.

I've been having a quiet day recovering from my excesses and decorating photos using http://blingee.com/ Thanks for the link Mo. I think I'm addicted to it! Hope you're all having a nice Sunday. I'll catch up with all your blogs over the next couple of days as I plan a quiet night.

Saturday night out

I was off out last night with my wonderful friend P to an event for a former colleague. Since P and I hadn't seen each other for a bit we had a good blether and started on the wine before we went out. Will we ever learn? Poor Mr duck had me rolling home at midnight, waking him up and blethering at him drunkenly. Thankfully, he's very forgiving - or at least he can be bought relatively cheaply for one or two cups of tea ;-)

It was a nice night and nice to see some people I hadn't seen for a while.

Pressie from a pal

My friend who was here yesterday brought me this little picture frame back from his holidays. I had little inspiration for photos today so here it is. I love it and have been a fan of the Clangers since childhood. RIP Oliver Postgate, creator of the Clangers who died this year.

The lovely man is here and is looking contented after I fed him despite a bit of a mishap with some trout...

Oops

I've taken a photo every day since the first of January except for yesterday. Oops. I had a visit from a dear friend from Dundee. He's not terribly fond of having his picture taken so I didn't think about the camera. We had a lovely evening and I fed him some tasty food. I'd just had my first delivery from Waitrose. I love the Waitrose in Edinburgh but we didn't have one in Glasgow till November. It's not near me though so I was delighted to discover that they deliver. I won't get my regular food from them but it's great for unusual cooking ingredients and treats. Last night we had a beef and burgundy pie from there and it was delicious. We also had the really yummy (too yummy perhaps) Green and Blacks vanilla ice cream.

Now I'm thinking about what to cook for the lovely man tonight...

Old markings

Here is a detail of writing on a bathroom wall. I was asked to take some photos of what was there before it was papered over. This has been covered since the 70s and it quite interesting to see the scrawls and lines written to plan whatever they did with the bathroom then.

It's been a nice day though nothing exciting to report. Tomorrow I'll have a visitor staying so that'll be nice.

Resilience

I left this half of a red onion on a plate over the weekend when I was away. It developed two new sprouts even though I'd cut the top off it. I couldn't throw it away till I'd photographed it as it fascinated me.

I'm still in hibernation though I may venture out this evening but I thought I'd blog just now as it's more fun than writing the vital bit of a job application I'm working on... Ah well. I suppose I can't avoid it for ever.
